Association of sparkling wine producers
The association of producers of sparkling wines was formed in February, 19th, 2010 by the decision of the First constitutive meeting of manufacturers of sparkling wines and Russian champagne.
About 250 million bottles of Russian sparkling wines are consumed in Russia annually, and the demand for it is growing. As a result, the great volume of poor-quality and fraud wine bacame a problem at the market of sparkling wines in Russia.
The Current situation forced diligent producers to unite in Association to counteract surrogate sale and to develop qualitative winemaking in Russia.
Besides, the Association of producers of sparkling wines cooperates with the Association Viticole Champenoise (AVC, or wine-growing association of Champagne), and, according to an agreement, within the next 10-15 years the name Champagne, which is now written by Cyrillics on bottles in Russia, won't change. Today the Association unites 12 companies, which produce about 60 % of Russian sparkling wines.
